Mary's Gold and Chinese Houses!

Shortly after our excursion to Hawthorn Hill Daylily Farm, my hubby came home from work bearing this lovely gift for me. It's called Mary's Gold. He went back to the farm, which is close to Cooperstown, where he works, and bought it. We had admired it while we were there, but thought it might be too similar to Chicago Star, so we picked others instead....and still ended up with some very similar to each other, as you know if you've read my recent post about the lilies we purchased :) He also brought home a lovely glazed flowerpot recently. I'm feeling royally spoilt! Not complaining though! Hmmm....do you think he's having an affair? Isn't this the sort of thing men do to relieve their guilt feelings?
(OK, I'm kidding, of course :)

It's a more golden shade than Chicago Star (pictured below).

Today I found a home for it.
In the planting process it lost a few petals, poor thing.

I think it'll do nicely here in the garden by the driveway.

This was the last bloom, so I'll have to wait 'til next year to see more.

Yesterday I finally found the name for this plant below (which I've posted a picture of previously) on the Dave's Garden site. It's Collinsia Bicolor, and the common name is Chinese Houses. Isn't that a neat name?

It pairs nicely with the gloriosa daisies and the deep blue delphiniums. It's still blooming after many weeks, as are the gloriosas...both are nice long bloomers, but the delphinims are finished.

I had a couple of kitten pictures to post but Blogger decided this was enough. I wish it would let me decide for myself! It did the same thing to me last time I posted...this was the second time it rejected the kitten pictures. Does it not like cats, I wonder? I'll try again next time.
I hope your weather was as nice as ours today...perfect for gardening!

Your new lily Mary's Gold is very pretty and I like where you planted it. Your flowers are still looking so pretty, and mine have almost stopped blooming except for the Rose of Sharon & Hibiscus.

Don't ever think such a thing about your dear sweet Ross LOL. You know our hubbies...they just love spoiling us.

I hate it when blogger won't let me post as many pictures as I want to post. I even make the pictures smaller so that they don't take up too many megabytes and blogger still won't let me post them. I guess we can't complain much...after all, it FREE. Maybe you can post your kitty pictures by themselves in a separate post.

I'm surprised you can find room for one more gorgeous plant in your garden - even a guilt one...lol.

Is Ross having an affair? Hmmmm - he was rather taken with the giraffe I sent you .... LOL.

SORRY, Ross, I know you have a heart of gold and you just wanted to surprise your dear wife. You are a real gem.

How much did you say that fence would be...????

That is so nice that your husband takes so much interest. Mine does too. We were at the zoo yesterday and they have fantastic gardens all around (I guess they flourish with all that "zoo poo" fertilizer). And there was my husband asking me about the plants and flowers and trying to guess some of the names. They had a lot of daylilies still blooming. Some I recognized, but many I didn't. There were no labels anywhere.

Your gardens are lovely, and that name "Chinese Houses" is really interesting. I've never heard of it before.

Isn't you hubby sweet to bring you a special gift. Did he read what you laughingly wrote??? Your flowers are beautiful.
(I am running out of new adjectives for how nice they look!)
I don't know about blogger and cats. It didn't want to take my latest picture of Vincent either. I persisted, though, and I won!!
hmmm, maybe you have something on the no cat thing!!!!

Hello Kerri Dear....

What beautiful pictures you’ve posted. Your garden is still extremely colourful. I’ll have to make a note of these flowers for next year. I say that, but wonder wherever I’ll put them. I think there has got to be some serious sorting out for me to do, as I'm desperate to increase my roses too.

I have the same problems with blogger restricting how many pictures it will allow me to post, it is very annoying.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment yesterday, it is good to be getting back on track again.

Oh! I must say I do love Ross’s fences too, they are quite artistic little structures in their own right. I must look on the beach for some drift wood and get John to build something similar.

You’ll get us all at it Ross! Love Marion

Marys gold is a stunning name for this lovely lily and It looks so nice in your garden too. You are lucky to have a husband like yours to bring home these nice pieces.

Now can I ask what do you do in the winter months I can assume it is covered in snow there and your beautiful garden is no place to be seen.........so what do you do Kerri all those months as you love your garden so very much I can tell! :o)

thank you again for the visit to my blog I do not know the poem you asked me about but I will have to find it now for sure.
have a nice day.

Don't you love those gold daylilies? Beautiful.

Yes, Blogger is very strict about the number of pictures you can post. One way I get around it is to use Picasa and make a collage of say, 6 pictures. Then save the collage. Then import it into blogger as one picture. (Like I did with that cabbage casserole post of mine).

What a gorgeous, GORGEOUS garden. I loooove that last photo, with the contrast of blue/purple against yellow/orange. Divine!

Hello from Texas! What a beautiful garden you have. I enjoyed looking at the pretty photographs and
paying you a visit.

Have a nice weekend!

Oh-oh another flower I want to try. I'll have to add it to my list of seeds to find over the winter. The new bed already has a lot of blue & purple and I'm also putting in new beds on the back and other side of the house so I have plenty of room for new plants.

How lucky you are to have a husband that will help you outside willingly! I have to promise to bake something special to get mine to help. lol
