Barnie and Olive
I wanted to share a wonderful website I found during the weekend while browsing Eric Shackle's ebook. I have no recollection of how I found his website, but I'm glad I did. He has links to some very interesting stories.
The sweetly smiling lady in the above photo is Olive Riley, and at the ripe old age of 107, she holds the illustrious title of "The World's Oldest Blogger".
Standing by her side is her 85 year old son, Barnie.
Olive tells her stories to Mike, her blog helper. He's the one who decided it might be fun for her to have a blog. I think he had a great idea!
The beautiful photo above was obligingly sent to me by Mike when I asked him if I might borrow a photo to put on my blog.
Olive lives in sunny New South Wales, Australia, not too far from where I grew up.
You'll enjoy meeting this lovely lady, I guarantee it!
Thanks Mike for introducing us to Olive.
She's an inspiration to us all!

Oh my gosh, I am so glad I stopped by this morning! I am going to print this out for my dad. I love to hear stories about the elderly still enjoying life. God love her.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care,
Connie
I really enjoyed reading about Olive, Kerri. What an inspiration. And a shandy! heh heh, I haven't heard those mentioned in a couple of decades. I remember my husband describing them to me in the 1970s when I first arrived in Australia - couldn't believe mixing anything with beer!
What a goer Olive is, and just imagine, she's lived in 3 centuries and 2 millenia.
I really enjoyed reading this too...being from Oz and Sunny NSW myself it was just that little bit more special...Thanks for sharing this with us all..
(Trying to figure out what 107 is in Web years ...)
Kerri, what a wonderful, inspiring post! Just think. In 44 years I could be considered the world's oldest blogger. Do you think I can stay with it that long? My aim is to beat Olive's record because I want to see what happens next . . .
What a testament to mental acuity. Not only is she with it enough to tell her stories, but she's smart enough to understand blogging and the internet. Good for Olive. I wish I had her genes and intelligence.
Thanks for bringing us her story.
Thanks so much for sharing this link Kerri-l'm just heading to my mum's now and will be sharing this news over a cup of tea! :)
Really has inspired me- l'd love to live a long life and be a bopping old grannie-lol (strike the word old there)- this lady is an inspiration.
Bests and hugs
Oh, Kerri,
I can't wait to meet her!!
I bet she has some wonderful things to share!!
:-D
What a wonderful story about this dear lady! I am going to start reading her blog, very inspiring. My father in law is 90 and still goes to work every day at 7 AM and doesn't come home until 6 PM. Learned the computer at age 85 and loves it. Keeping the mind active is the key to staying young.
Hi Kerri,
What an amazing story! I had never heard of a shandy before, (should ask Kim that one!)
Thanks for the link to such a inspirational site!
xoxo
Loved your post today, what a lovely story... makes my Mom at 89 yrs. seem like a youngster!!
Thanks for sharing with us.
WOW! Do you think we will still be blogging at 107?
Thanks for the great story, I will check it out.
Love the sledding pictures, it looks like great fun, I am sure the grandchildren will remember it always.

Oh Kerri, what an inspiration she is.....wow, thank you for sharing that sight.....I can now say i met an 107 year old blogger....isn't blogging just so wonderful.....
Thank you for sharing Olive with us. She certainly seems to be a hit - I couldn't access her blog the first several times I tried! I laughed out loud when she talked about the bell.
Thank you so much for giving me the link to this lady's blog.
I'd seen her recommended in another place. But the link there, wouldn't work. Perhaps there were so many people trying to access the site, that it was overloaded then.
But now, this link of yours, did let me in. So I could say Hello.

I've just come back from her blog...oh Kerri, what an inspiration she is!! She seems like quite the little crackerjack! lol I'm still giggling at her saying how that bell was driving her nuts every time she had to go potty! hehe Thank you so much for the link dear Kerri! xox
God bless this lady and thank you for introducing us to her!hugs NG
Hi Kerri, thanks for the info on Olive, her "blob" is delightful! I hope you are staying warm in all that snow - 80 degrees here today. I thought about you when I was outside painting the fence, sweating! Do you think we will still be blogging when we are 107?!?!?
Wow, that is amazing! Thanks for posting the link.
Hi Kerri, I was visiting last night and clicked on Olive's link that you provided and it's wonderful to read stories of long ago from someone who is 107. I recorded things from my grandparents also when I was younger. Kind of reminded me of stories they told. Thanks for mentioning this lady in your blog. SO INTERESTING!
To be 107 and blogging...What an inspiration.
Olive, what a sweet, sweet lady you are, you remind me of my great grandmother. You are an inspiration to others, love your stories, wish you many more years of blogging!
