Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - June 2010

Color abounds in our June garden, but gray skies and showers lately have made it rather difficult to photograph the flowers. I knew there would be no time for picture taking today as I was working at school, so these photos were taken yesterday under cloudy conditions. Of course we had beautiful sunshine today while I was confined to the indoors.

Lupines and Lemon Lilies brighten the bottom end of the Driveway Garden and the Peony border is looking pretty in pink.

Foxglove, Harebells (Campanula), Shooting Star Pinks (Dianthus) and Sweet William are at the top end, with Peonies, Evening Primrose and Weigela in the Lilac Garden behind.

The Weigela is smothered in blooms. The Peonies have been beaten down by rain but are still beautiful.

Foxglove adds a lovely splash of pink to the Daisy Garden. Posted by Picasa

Sweet William cosies up to William Guiness Columbine in the Lower Rock Garden, and white Harebells peek through the greenery of Monarda and Spiderwort.

Evening Primrose and Lamium are running rampant in the Clematis Garden with Clematis Carnaby showing off in the background. Most of that Lamium will have to go. My plan is to transplant it to the front bank by the road where it will make a great ground cover.

Red Sweet William and Evening Primrose decorate the Side Porch Garden. Clematis Jackmanii is loaded with buds, preparing to burst into bloom.

The Pink Garden is blue with Jacob's Ladder, Green with Heuchera, purple with more overgrown Lamium and red with Sweet William.  There's pink Sweet William around the other side, pink Foxgloves in back, and the Spirea will soon be a cloud of pink. Posted by Picasa

Pansies are blooming in the top Rock Garden and there are annuals waiting to be planted in there.

I'm loving this North Border right now. A few of the flowers providing a colorful palette at the moment are Siberian Iris, Cranesbill Geranium, Bleeding Heart, Columbine (just finishing), Lamium, Sweet William and Foxglove.

As I type I'm inhaling the delicious scent of Peonies wafting from a large bouquet gracing the table behind me.

Their beauty astounds me. Posted by Picasa

June is a glorious time in the garden.
Happy Bloom Day and happy gardening everyone!

As always I love walking through your garden. I am envious of your open flat planting areas and sunshine. Since I am in the woods I have only a few small areas that get enough sunshine to bloom!

You got it right - color abounds! Love your garden, I know it is a lot of work but we all appreciate it! Enjoyed our little chat over the back fence the other day about Grisham and Cruise. Have a great day, don't work too hard out in the garden.

Kerri - those peonies look wonderful! I can imagine the fragrance.

The foxgloves among the daisies make a stunning combination! I think foxgloves would melt here if I planted them out with my daisies! I have to use heat-loving agastache with my daisies.

I do always enjoy "touring" your garden. You have so many great ideas for plant and color combinations.

Have a great day,
Cameron

I'll bet your neighbors slow down or stop when they drive past your house. What a lovely place with little gardens scattered everywhere.

I missed seeing your kitties:) Must have been wet day when kitties wanted to keep dry feet.

Kerri, as always, your garden is beautiful! Gosh you sure get a lot of bloom...just gorgeous. I've sort of been on a break from blogging, but have missed everyone. Hope to stop in more regularly again.

Everything in your garden look so pretty. I love the types of flowers you grow, many are the same kinds I have. My 'Jackmanii' has just begun to bloom, that is one of my favorite Clematis.

I enjoy your pictures so much!!! I love flowers and it tickles me that we have many of the same variety.
I've had Jacob's Ladder for years. It reseeds nicely here.
The main problems I have are keeping the deer and slugs at bay. So far this year I have destroyed over 600 slugs and doing the math this means I have eliminated nearly a hundred thousand of those nasty critters. As for the deer, I pop them on the rear with my BB gun. It stings and they leave. It's just hard to be on guard 24-7.
I have learned that they love my Paul II Clematis and chased a big buck out of mine aagain yesterday.
Thanks for a fun tour through your lovely gardens Kerri!

Someday I want to come walk through your gardens and really take in all the smells. They are, as usual, just gorgeous and awash with color. Doesn't it just figure that today would be sunny?????

Dear Kerri,

The state of your June garden can be summed up in two words:
Luxuriant opulence.
Amazing with what speed it has developed from tulips to midsummer flowers.
I hope your news continues to be good.

I think all that rain made your gardens lovely. My favorite bed is the daisy and foxglove combination.

And, you have so many pretty pinks blooming right now.

How long would it take us to walk around your garden and see all the beds in real life? Your photos make me think it would take hours to look at all the colors and shapes, feel the silky petals and inhale those scents ...Happy June, Kerri!

Wow, you have a great eye for combining plants! How stunning your garden is right now. And I also love those salmon colored poppies in the previous post - I've never seen that color and it is amazing. Your garden is really, really lovely.

I agree with you the beauty of our flowers just astounds me too! When I hear the old saying to stop and smell the roses it is sooooooo true because it is one of lifes true blessings! Your flowers are always so beautiful and you are so knowledgeable about them and know all the names!

Hope you have a wonderful forth of July!! xoxo

It must be so hard to leave your beautiful garden in the morning and go off to work, especially when the sun shines and you are aching to get 'down and dirty' in amongst it all. But what a peaceful, tranquil haven to come home to each night!

That grass is so lush that I want to lie down and roll in it....which would be a great achievement for me at the moment.
