Happy Birthday Grandson!

This young man turned 5 yesterday! His party was Saturday.
Can you guess the theme?
Yes, Superman!
We had to make the tablecloth smaller so we put the piece that was left to good use. It was just the right size for 2 capes (one for little brother too).

So many fun presents!

After much racing around with the cousins it was time to open all the presents.

Little brother had fun with the new toys too.

There were so many interesting new things to play with!

Then it was time for cake and ice cream. Mmmm, the Superman cake was delicious! We had chicken wing dip and other snacks, plus
pizza and wings before the cake. Mmmm, good!

The boys had fun the previous night with a couple of the party favors (we had to try them out!). I want to call them whistles, but they didn't actually make any noise. This was a rather pleasant surprise, and good thinking on someone's part...a marketer who thinks of the grownups and realizes how annoying a chorus of that tooting sound can be :)

After reading a couple of new books, we took some fun photos

As you can see the boys were willing subjects :) Posted by Picasa

We drove home on Saturday evening in a deluge of rain. If we'd realized how bad it was going to be we certainly would've stayed another night and driven home in the daylight, but we finally made it and were very grateful to reach the warm comfort of home.
Spending time with the grandchildren is by far the sweetest blessing of all! I only wish we could do it more often. We're already looking forward to the next time we'll get together which hopefully will be Thanksgiving, which is coming right up.
I hope you all had a blessed weekend too.

Grandchildren are indeed the sweetest blessing, aren't they!
Your two are just beautiful boys! I love the blonde hair, and what a cute Superman! Looks like a fun time was had by all at the party :)
Glad you made it home through the rain, we're pouring here after gorgeous sun in LA.

Happy birthday to the young man!! :) He looked smashing in his cape and very happy with all the goings on. His wee brother is so cute too.
My Sam will be 5 in Jan. so can imagine the fun you were all having.

Dear Kerri...
What an exciting time, reading your post evoked fond memories of past birthday parties in our family too. Time with grandchildren is indeed so very precious, they grow up far too quickly. My eldest grand girl is 20 next week and the other two are 16. I think your boys look so much like Ross. Marion

Ohhh - they are SO adorable. When our grandchildren were little and would ask us to do something, my husband would say.. always go while they still want you. They soon hit an age where sprouting wings and trying out independence takes them off 'for a time'. We even drove 4 hours -- each way - to a spaghetti dinner because they wanted us to be there. lol. You have lots of wonderful years and memories ahead of you. Aren't 'blogs' a wonderful way to preserve some of those memories.. and shared blessings seem to be even sweeter.

Looks like everybody, including the grandparents, had a wonderful time. Superman costume was so cute. Those blond boys -- you just want to grab them and hug them, they are sooooo cute.

Glad you made it home safely in the rain. I hate driving at night and I especially dislike driving in the rain!

Spending time with family and especially grandchildren is the best thing that could happen to us. Hope the upcoming holidays are wonderful for your entire family.

I'm glad you had a wonderful time. They are both addorable! You remind me how fortunate I am to have all of my grandkids so close by.

Make sure you pack your life raft for Thanksgiving, I'm convinced it's never going to stop.

Your grandsons are precious! Now I'm trying to recall the name of the party favors that you blow in! Ahhh. : )

Wonderful photos, Kerri. Glad you had such a loving family time. I hope you get to do it more often.

What a relief to arrive home safely. Heavy rain at night is so horrible to drive in.

Would you believe that it snowed through much of Southeastern Australia today, whilst bushfires burned in the Blue Mountains.

Kerri what fun! They are both very handsome and I'll bet a handfull also! haha! I raised two boys and then their sister came along which threw more flame into the fire! Do they plan on trying for a girl? Glad you had a safe trip. We are planning on going to our sons this Thanksgiving, so we are hoping it's a dry one. From Illinois to Georgia is always a long haul and a full day, but we have been lucky so far.

Hey Kerri, looks like you had a fabulous time too.Being together as a family is under rated. The boys will remember the party for years to come.I remember a birthday party for me where mum made me a chocolate cat cake! That was twenty odd years ago now, but the memories are still fresh and pleasent.

Hi Kerri ~~ Beautiful grandsons and no need to ask if the birthday boy enjoyed
his day. You can see it on both the boy's faces how much they enjoyed it all
Grandchildren are wonderful and a real blessing. Thank you so much for your comments Kerri and also the jokes you sent. I have seen them before but they are both good. Thank you, Cheers, Merle.
