Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - July 2011

Is there anything more glorious than summer in the garden?
It's a little bit of heaven, I think.
I don't have much time to chat tonight...must get my 40 winks....so I'll just let the photos show you what's blooming.

Clematis Jackmanii is loaded with blooms,

and I'm very happy to see
so many flower heads on this Hydrangea. The one in the background, however, has no sign of any blooms.

We've had glorious sunshine and blue skies lately - perfect summer weather....

but we need rain!

...and there's not a drop in the forecast. Posted by Picasa

The Daylilies and Asiatics loved the wet spring and are rewarding us with abundant blooms.

Butterpat Daylily's diminutive bloom pairs well with Cerise Queen Yarrow/Achillea

The lovely Asiatic Lilies are just finishing

It's the Daylilies time to shine

Summerwine

Catherine Woodbury - such a delicate pink

Gloriosa Daisies/Rudbeckia hirta (Black-eyed Susans) are blooming gloriously!

I was thrilled to find this red Batface Cuphea at our local nursery. I've long admired it in Annie in Austin's beautiful garden and never expected to see it in my upstate New York garden....so far from Texas!
This is just one of several containers I've had fun putting together.

There are many more blooms and at least 80 more photos to show, but we have to keep this reasonable, don't we?

So much for not chatting.....
My dear hubby will have a quiet chuckle when he reads that line.

I was sorry to miss the June Bloom Day.
The photos were ready to post but there just wasn't a window of time to accomplish the task. Perhaps I'll manage to play catch up one of these summer nights.

You'll find a long list of gardeners, far and near, anxious to show off their blooms at Carol's Indiana "May Dreams Gardens" blog.

Happy July Bloom Day everyone! Posted by Picasa

Good to see you posting again, Kerri! I wouldn't have guessed that you need rain by looking at those photos--that's a lot of great-looking flowers for a time of drought. Happy GBBD! :)

Good to hear from you Kerri. Your garden is fulll of blooms at this time. I can see how you are keeping busy. Don't you just love to find a flower that links you with another blogger such as the bat face cuprea. I do. I bet you think of Annie often when watering that pot. Happy GBBD.

I so look forward to seeing your gardens, Kerri. It is wonderful to see everything in bloom again.

The lillies are stunning. Do you pick big bouquets to enjoy in the house as well?

Enjoy your summer...and your gardens.

Your garden is looking absolutely beautiful. Are you sure you need rain? It all looks so green and lush to me, but then I'm used to really really dry conditions where the grass turns brown everywhere.

I just love your Batface Cuphea. That's been on my wish list for a while now. 'Summerwine' is glorious and your Daylily patches are looking fantastic. Well, all the garden beds are in top form by the look of it.

Your summer garden looks glorious and so full of color!

It's cold, grey and even a little damp at home (unlike sunny Queensland) so it was warming in more ways than one to see your beautiful garden performing to its usual standard.

Everything has such vital, healthy colour and the variety is endless. I can't believe that deep green grass needs rain - you should see our 'winter brown' grass!

Please can we see more of your container plants? You know ..... those ones that should be published in a "How to ... " garden book.

I hope you summer weather continues for quite a while with rain at night and lots of fine sunny days ..... and hopefully lots of time for you to enjoy it.

I think I'll pick a photo for my screen and then I can be cheered up each time I 'visit'.

Love and hugs to you and your dear hubby.

Yay- even though we all need rain, it's so good to see your lovely garden, Kerri - but blogger might have a fit if you posted the other 80 photos!
Even if you don't have much time right now, you & your DH have made so many established, beautiful, beds and borders that you should be able to coast for a while.

How fun that you found some Batfaced cuphea! Small starter plants are easy to find here but your knack for overwintering cuttings may come in handy.

Thanks for letting us see 'Catherine Woodbery' - love that daylily.

Dear Kerri ~~ As always your garden looks beautiful with such a large variety of flowers. Loved all your photos. I hope you had a wonderful birthday on 21st my friend. I meant
to put this on yesterday. I hope you get some rain very soon as it is such a help. You must spend a lot of time watering to have such great results. Take care, Love, Merle.

So many prettys in your garden this summer, isn't it glorious? I've been wondering what was going on in your garden these days. The lilies are gorgeous! I've got some pretty ones blooming too. Fragrant too. It's been soooo hot lately, even for a summer lover like me. Whew!

I always love visiting your summer gardens, Kerri. The countryside around your home is so beautiful. I love the intensity of the colorful perennials in your beds/borders. That yarrow's shade of red, as well as that of the lily 'Summerwine' are simply gorgeous!

Just beautiful! I am envious. How are your animals doing?

Sorry I haven't been to visit in a while. My dear friend John passed away on the 16th of July and I just wasn't feeling like doing anything.
Your flowers are always so glorious Kerr, especially in your lovely country setting. I wish I could have lilies like yours but the slugs are horrible here and eat them as fast as they come up.
We are finally getting some warm temps so maybe my veggie garden will do someting to please me. LOL Early corn is beginning to tassle but the poor tomatoes are pathetic.
I have a two purple clematis growing in front of my shed in full sun and they have been blooming for a long time. I don't know what kind they are but I like them. My Paul II put on a wonderful show for me this year too. Oodles of huge pink blossoms against the blue shed was really pretty.
I have been watering a lot and have the sprinkler on my Fuji apple tree right now. It's loaded with fruit in fact one branch broke off. :(
Thanks for showing us your lovely gardens dear. See you next time around.
Hugs
