A Bit of Fun

I must say I deeply regret mentioning that one of my presents this Christmas was a "Mad Bomber" hat from our youngest daughter.
Ross received his MB hat last Christmas from KE's beau and we shared it all winter (Ross got a turn occasionally), after finding it to be the warmest hat imaginable. So dearest daughter thought I should have one of my own. She even assures me that they're extremely fashionable at the moment. (Apple, do I hear you snickering?)
Wouldn't you know that some of my smart alecky blog friends would think it fun to see a picture?
Now, I'm always ready for a laugh, but these hats are not pretty....so this laugh is at my expense! However, with a bit of prodding from Ross (always the jester), I took the hats with us when we visited our son and his family last weekend to have our Christmas with them, and we had him take a photo of us.

So what do you think?
Fashionable to say the very least, yes? That front flap forms a brim if you fold it down, and you can wear the ear flaps up if you want to hear better. Picture that!

Of course, our son and the boys had to get in on the act too.

The little guys look a lot cuter in all that fur than I do.
You might be a redneck if you wear one of these :) Posted by Picasa

We also had some fun opening presents.

These Magstiks were a big hit with all three boys :)
They're magnets that you can make neat shapes with. Posted by Picasa

On Saturday morning while C went with his mom and dad to indoor soccer practice, Ross and I had a wonderful time frosting sugar cookies with K. He kept us smiling all morning with his excited chatter, and watching him frost those cookies, while dribbling frosting along the counter top was priceless. Now that's fun! :) Posted by Picasa
I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

Waiting for the picture with the hats was well worth it. How fun! I also loved your pictures below of NYC. What a nice holiday you had. Thanks for the birthday greetings.

Kerri, you are such a good sport!

Yes, the hat looks a bit funny (mainly because your delicate face gets kind of hidden under all that fur!) but hey - if it's warm and comfy, who cares?! The cows and the cats won't laugh, and with Ross in his matching hat I'm sure he won't dare smirk either! ;-)

Thanks for posting all these happy photos.

In a North American winter? I'd wear that hat in a second!! Go out and set the trend.

You guys are too cute in those hats! And what good sports to share that picture with us - priceless!

Looks like you had a grand time with the boys. We're looking forward to our annual trip south to see the grandkids in April (or whenever this darned snow stops).

Me, snicker? John wanted to know why I was laughing so hard! But I was actually laughing at your description. After the build up I was expecting something awful. Those hats are all the rage here! The fur looks soft and warm. A lot nicer looking than my hat over my ear muffs or my ear muffs over my hat, depending on my mood :) And look how K perked up when he got to wear it!

Ross' hat is quite fashionable too!

You two are just the cutest in your hats. So very obviously happy and in love! The hats look so warm and cozy...
Glad you got to spend some fun time with the boys. Looks like you've got a future cook on your hands!
love and ((hugs))

You're a very good sport to pose in your new bomber hat. I like those hats and I bought one for my son in 2004 to wear on our motorcycle trip across the US and it was so nice and warm that I wanted it back, but he wouldn't let go of it. hehehe

The boys are so sweet and look like they're having so much fun. Aren't grands just the best?

Did I mention that you and Ross look cute in your Bomber hats. Your hat has a feminine touch with all that fur. I'm kind of partial to Ross's hat myself. You need to pose in his hat!

from one of your smart alecky friends with love.

Remembering Maine, those hats are priceless! You do whatyou have to do. Our daughter wore PJ's under her clothes to school for two weeks before school called to ask what was wrong. Apparently the school was cold, so she slipped into her snowsuit without us knowing about the PJ's. Fashion never entered into kindergarten. Personally I love fur around the face! You are great sports!

Those hats are a hoot. I am sure they are just what you need up in the north country. I wouldn't laugh at you. I think they are wonderful and I do think they are in vogue now. In the game Cranium there is one of those hats to put on the little person you use as a marker, very chic. ;)

Thanks for visiting my blog and offering the advice -- much needed I must add.

You guys are such good sports. It sounds like you might be needing a full body suit of the fur if the big storm hits tonight. Good luck.

The kids are darling. That always makes Christmas so much fun. Thanks for sharing.

(Second attempt at a comment - serves me right for being cheeky (explain that to Ross))

Those hats look just the ticket for a northern winter. They would keep your faces really warm if you could pull the top flap right down to your chin - can you?...LOL.

When a blizzard is blowing, who cares about fashion. They look much better than the striped Balaclavas I knitted for my parents many years ago, but they wore them a lot. The kids looked really cute in them.

I think Luca has those Magsticks and makes amazing things with them.

I think you look adorable in your warm fuzzy bomber hat! I think I would prefer the flaps down. :)

I enjoyed reading about your holiday in New York City. How exciting to see all the window displays, walk in Central Park and enjoy Christmas with your children.

Great hat! I wonder if you strolled around the streets of New York with it? I imagine it will come in handy when you are stoking the wood furnace out in the snow... Thanks for sharing!

Hey, form follows function and those hats look very warm! Very cute too! Thanks for sharing and I hope you are wearing that hat out to the barn!

Well, it may not be the most fashionable hat on earth, but in my opinion, if it keeps you warm, it is a good deal. Look at those girls in their fashion dresses, but who are so cold that their skin turn green. They ain't pretty...

Hello dear Kerri:-)

Gosh, I haven't visited in ages...I'm so sorry about that, keep running out of time to visit blogs! I've so enjoyed catching up on your last couple of posts...how I love the pictures taken in the city! WOW! New York City certainly is a huge place and I would love to one day go there just to experience the atmosphere:-) The snowman window displays are just too cute!!

I'm so glad that you had such a wonderful Christmas with your family, everyone seemed to be having a great time:-) I really miss having young children around, especially at Christmas time. Your grandsons are adorable.

Ummmm, Kerri? Do you know you have an animal on your head??? hehe I'm sorry, I couldn't resist! lol Seriously, I think those hats look fabulous and they sure do look warm! A lot of people seem to be wearing those these days...we get to an age where we don't care if it looks "cool" or now, as long as it keeps us warm! lol

Happy New Year to you and yours and here's to another wonderful year of friendship. xoxo

In the upstate cold of winter I vote for a warm "mad bomber" hat over anything cute but less warm!!
Anyway, I think you look great in it!

Those boys sure are sweet!
God bless.

This was worth waiting for, Kerri - at least Ross wore his hat, too, so you had company!

I used to borrow a similar red-plaid version of that hat from a teenage son when I went out to shovel snow... to heck with fashion when there's cold work to be done!

The new toy photos were so charming - thanks!

Both Ross and you look great in the hats! I'd give my right arm to have one of them ... warmth over fashion is my mantra this winter.

Your grandsons are such sweeties. I enjoyed seeing their pictures - what fun to have Christmas spread over the weeks! Good plan ...

I want a hat like that. I went for a walk this morning with a warm woolen hat on, and I was still freezing! My 21 year old daughter has similar hat - so you are quite "in" with the young adult crowd, I'm sure! What a warm and happy weekend at your house, by the looks of the pictures!

You and Ross are so cute in those hats, Kerri!

I really think you should have included a picture of you both with the "ear flaps up" look, though. I'm cracking up at the thought. ;)

That sure is a hat, Kerri!
Not much use for one of those in Melbourne.

Kerri, I have enjoyed the photos from your familiy and the famous hats!

Please come, I have some photographs for you and your husband at the blog.

Love it!! You are a good sport for showing us those pictures, Kerri, but honestly the hat doesn't look bad at all. And anyway, when it gets really cold around here, who cares what our clothes look like, right?? Just pile them on and try not to get frostbite is my motto!! :)

Those hats are wonderful!!! I'm all for comfort in my old age. They are perfect for going to the barn, feeding the cats, anywhere outside! As usual all your photos are fabulous, beautiful, and fun. Thank you, thank you!
