Nevertheless, the garden is telling us that spring is indeed, on her way. Yesterday I took a little tour to see what was happening in the gardens and snapped a few photos.
Daffodils have been slowly emerging for quite some time now, and their stems are beginning to get a little taller.
The snowdrops have had white buds showing for a week or two, but the blooms are not completely open. On sunny days they stand up straight and look bright and cheery, but on days like today they droop and seem disappointed. I’m amazed at their endurance and the way they ‘bounce back’ as soon as the sun warms them. I feel empathy towards them because their actions seem to mimic my reactions to the weather.
Here in the Northeast the prevailing attitude, I think, is that we’re really ready for spring to come. Winter here is like an endurance test for all but a few thick-blooded people who really love cold weather and enjoy outdoor winter sports and activities. I rarely cross paths with anyone who isn’t looking forward to warmer weather.
So Mother Nature….we’re ready whenever you are!
Bring on the spring!

Ooof, I don't think I'd enjoy the cold weather if it snowed. A childhood spent on Long Island NY was enough for me. We did take up cross country skiing in California later on, but now we could just not imagine putting ourselves through that. That's age, I guess.
But I do enjoy seeing your photos, Kerri, and will rejoice with you as you approach Spring weather!
Since we don't have winter and spring here in our Country, I think I can welcome this kind of season where it's cold. Right now it's awfully hot here. I can see your pics. Plants and flowers are just sprouting and soon blooming will come.
I wonder if our temperatures will match one day soon - perhaps around 20C degrees - with you on the way up, and us on the way down.
Those cheery daffodils will warm your heart and spirits even when the weather will not.

My daffodils have come and gone. They took a real beating from the rain. You still have yours to look forward to!

Happy 1st day of Spring!
My daffodils are in bloom right now and so are my forsythia bushes...but we had snow flurries today along with sleet and rain. It also was so, so cold today and the wintry wind had no mercy on anyone.
I too am ready for spring...not just the date, but the actual warmth of the sun spring day.
Great photos Kerri. I'm glad I don't live in an area where it snows but I really do enjoy your pictures of it, especially when your garden is bursting through.

Hallo Kerri, you made me go and look more closely for my daffodils - and although most are still at the bud stage, I found some in flower! Here in south west UK we may have some more nights below freezing, but spring is definitely around the corner.

Having lived through quite a few cold Swiss winters....I understand the total joy of seeing Spring arrive!!! The sunshine and warm days and all the growing in the garden.......enjoy it!!!
