Under the trees were some wonderful picnic settings which the crowds took advantage of.
When I walked through the trees, over to see the view, there were about 7 turkey vultures soaring over the gorge. The light was too bright to get a good picture so this is overexposed, but I like the way the light is shining through the bird's wings.
After the show closed on Saturday, Chris and I drove down to the bottom end of the park to see the waterfalls. The gorge winds for 17 miles through the park.
Here at Inspiration Point you can see a wonderful view of the Middle and Upper Falls. The Lower Falls is further back and quite a treck to get to, so we didn't take the time to see it. The sun was setting and the light was beginning to fade. It was about 6:30Pm and I was surprised the pictures came out as well as they did. I thought we'd be too late to get any decent shots.
The Middle Falls
And again
There weren't a lot of bright reds in the fall colors this year, but still, they were gorgeous.
The really spectacular colors appear when the season is dry. That's not an adjective that applies to the spring and summer we've just come through!
The leaves are falling rapidly here at home, and the fall colors will soon be all gone. It's such a brief burst of beauty, but so lovely while it lasts!
Like Alice, I had trouble posting these pictures tonight, with some of them posting as only half a picture. Is anyone else having the same problems with the updated, supposedly improved (ha!) Picasa? It's a royal pain in the neck!!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend :)

What a beautiful park Kerri! I love how you captured the sunlight on the bird's wings. Your photography talents amaze me!
Even without lots of red, your fall colors are just so stunning!
I don't use Picassa, it gave me too many problems. Blogger can make me just as frustrated when its being beasty!
I have to talk really nice to it!!
;-)
New York state is so beautiful and your pictures are lovely. Great falls. I once visited Niagara Falls, both on the American side and then on the Canadian side. Just stunning.
Sounds as if you and hubby had a great time visiting this park and seeing all the fall colors of the trees.
(((Kerri!!)))
these shots are spectacular!!!
:-D
Those photos are just beyond description (almost beyond belief). I can't stop looking at them; in fact I've already 'stolen' one for my computer screen. Thank you, Kerri.
I would never have reached home if I'd stopped to look at the Letchworth Gorge - it is just so stunningly beautiful. The top photo is not unlike an Australian landscape, with it's colours.
You certainly have some magnificent scenery in your little 'neck of the woods'.
BTW, it's not just us having photo loading problems - lots of people are. Not sure if it's the new Picasa or not. I tried posting through 'Hello' but using another photo program and the same thing happened. My problems only started after I upgraded to Picasa2. Did you upgrade, or have things just gone haywire anyway?
Stunning pics however we are still happily moving into late spring here downunder. These pics remind me of the beautiful falls of Canada. Nothing more gorgeous.
Kerri these photos of Letchworth are beautiful. I love the waterfall! My son was going to be stationed in upperstate NY up until a few months ago when He was able to change his location to Ft. Stewart, Ga.
I havn't gotten to go to any craft fairs yet this year, but need to because Christmas will soon be here!
wow! really stunning scenery. what a beatiful place. I love the turkey vulture picture, sure you meant it to come out like that!
Not just beautiful photos- utterly stunning!! l love the Autumn colours against the waterfalls. l wish l lived there for sure Kerri!
Glad you had a good time at the craft show and had nice weather to boot. l love visiting craft events.
Thank you for the birthday wishes. :) You are such a kind lady to all.
Bests,
Kerri,
What beautiful scenery.
It is a shame that the fall color lasts for such a short time.
I guess that's why we appreciate it so much.
Oh Kerri, how I wish I could see this beautiful scenery in person...it looks so breathtaking and like Alice, I would have had a hard time to leave such a place!! When I see scenery like that, I call it God's Country:-) I would have also loved the Craft Fair...I'm in my glory attending events like that! lol Hugs xox
I had the same problem with half a picture, but I don't use Picassa...so it's just a blogger thing.
The waterfalls are lovely...I'm a sucker for waterfalls and I can't wait to go & see somemore. I try to visit as many as I can, but haven't made it up your way yet.
What stunning pictures you’ve treated us to Kerri, the mighty waterfalls and glorious autumnal colours are breathtaking.
I’ve been out of touch for a couple of weeks, but what lovely sights to greet my return to your blog. Marion
Sorry to hear that you are feeling sick as well - rotten luck for us all. Was up last night with wee Sam- he now has it.
Thanks again for the nice comments that you left- cheers me up so much.
Bests and hugs for you too Kerri (())) Get better soon.
Can't get over those photos you blogged- the bottom one is stunning!
Your pics are stunning. My daughter just got back from visiting New Hampshire for the first time and now I know why she kept saying nature, and beauty...just heavenly! I love the waterfall, the gorge, and the bird. :)
Beautiful! You really do live in a beautiful area. Picasa and blogger have been giving me headaches too. Don't switch to Beta blogger. That has been a really bad move for me. Very frustratin. When I have some time I think I am going to find a new blogging source.
